What is the Foundry Networks Certification Program (FNCP)?

The FNCP awards the designation of the Foundry Networks Certified Network Engineer (FNCNE) and Foundry Network certified Network Professional (FNCNP). This is achieved through completion of an online exam comprised of IP networking technology and in-depth knowledge of Foundry products. The exam consists of multiple-choice questions and typically takes 90 minutes to complete. The exam questions are very challenging and prior "hands on" experience is essential.

Who should take the FNCP exam?

Any networking professional including field pre- and post-sales engineers, network administrators, resellers, and consultants will benefit from achieving Foundry Certified Network Engineer (FCNE) or the Foundry Network Certified Network Professional (FNCNP) designations.

How do I register for the exam?

Foundry has teamed with Prometric, a leading worldwide provider of comprehensive technology-based testing and assessment services to deliver the exams. Registration is available via phone at 800-347-3926 within the United States. International registration numbers can be found on Foundry's main certification page. Web registration is also available at www.prometric.com/FoundryNetworks.

Is there a specific exam that I have to ask for?

Please ask for Foundry Networks, FNO-100 for the FNCNE and the FNO-405 for the FNCNP.

Is access to the Knowledge Portal included in the certification program?

Yes, we are pleased to announce this new feature. Only those candidates holding a valid certification will be given access. You will be able to access documentation, and search the Knowledgebase ONLY. You will not be allowed to open or view TAC cases nor download software. To request your access to the Knowledge Portal, simply follow the registration link below. Make sure you have your certification number handy. It will be required to authenticate. Please allow 48hrs to process your request.

What score is required to pass the FNCNE exam?

75% is required to pass both the FNCNP and the FNCNE. The sample exam should also be passed with a 75% or higher in order to identify whether candidates are prepared to take the exam.

Where are Prometric test centers located?

Prometric test centers are located globally and can be easily located during registration via phone or web access, at www.prometric.com/FoundryNetworks.

What is the cost of the exam?

The cost of the FNCNE exam is $125.00 US and the FNCNP exam is $150.00 US.

How do I prepare for the exam?

Preparations requires that the candidates to have knowledge of general networking technologies as well as in-depth knowledge of Foundry solutions. Please refer to the exam preparation pages for more information FNCNE and FNCNP.

Will Foundry offer additional tracks to FCNE in the future?

Foundry is currently reviewing new tracks to complement FCNE and allow certified personnel to continue their professional certification progress. Stay tuned!

Why retire the FN0-100 Exam?

The FN0-100 exam will be replaced by exam FN0-125. The retiring of the FN0-100 exam is a part of our continuing commitment to keeping our certifications up to date.

How does the retiring of the FN0-100 Exam affect me?

  • If you currently hold a valid FNCNE, you are not affected.
  • If you are planning to take the FNCNE for the first time, then you will need to decide if you want to take the current exam or wait for the new one, currently scheduled for January 16th, 2006.
  • If your FNCNE certification is up for renewal, you will have a choice
    • Renew your FNCNE by taking the current test before 1/15/06
    • Wait until January and taking the new test to renew your FNCNE
    • Upgrade your certification to the next level (FNCNP) by taking the FN0-405 (Advanced Switching & Routing) or the FN0-240 (Advanced Server Load Balancing). This will allow you to skip the FNCNE exam for re-certification.

What will be the last date that I can take the FN0-100 exam?

The last official date for the FN0-100 will be 1-15-2006.

Which certifications are impacted by this change?

The only certification affected by this change is the FNCNE.

How do I earn the FNCNE?

The FNCNE exam checks the candidate's skills and knowledge of networking on Layers 2 - 7. Beginning in January of 2006, you will have two methods to earn the FNCNE:

  • A single exam method. The FN0-100 test is being replaced with the FN0-125.
    • The exam will consist of 100 questions
    • You will have 90 mins to complete the exam
    • You must score 75% or better to pass
    • Focused on layers 2 - 7
  • A two exam method.
    • Exam 1 (FN0-103)
      • A new exam (FN0-103) will be available
      • The exam will consist of 75 questions
      • You will have 90 mins to complete exam
      • You must score 75% or better to pass
      • Focused on layers 2 - 3
    • Exam 2 (FN0-202)
      • This exam consist of 90 questions
      • You must score 75% or better or pass
      • You will have 90 mins to complete the exam
      • Focused on layers 4 - 7

Is there a certification level for the FNO-103 exam?

No, not at the present time.

When will I be able to register for the new exam?

Registration for the new exam is targeted to begin 1/1/2006.

Can I renew my FNCNE certification by taking the FNCL4-7P exam?

Yes. Both the FNCNP and FNCL4-7P professional level exams will meet the prerequisite for renewing the FNCNE certification.
