IronPoint Wireless Location Manager
- Utilizes Foundry's IP200 802.11a/b/g access points and RF Sensors to enable instant detection and location tracking of all 802.11 based wireless devices on all currently available bands
- Map view support to display exactly where all wireless devices are located—Wireless devices can be identified as known or unknown and unauthorized devices can be quickly identified, located and isolated from the network
- Integration with IronView Network Manager for enhanced security; features Virtual Shield—provides the capability to deny access by wireless clients based on their location
Overview
Foundry's IronPoint Wireless Location Manager (WLM) provides the capability to simultaneously track the physical location of thousands of 802.11 based wireless devices including laptops/PDAs with WiFi cards, wireless VoIP handsets, 802.11 based RFID tags, rogue access points and rogue clients in real time by utilizing Foundry's IP200 access points and RF Sensors. WLM delivers a new level of visibility and manageability of the RF infrastructure and adds an advanced layer of security which can detect, alert and pinpoint the location of rogue access points and unauthorized wireless clients in the wireless infrastructure. WLM also takes snapshots of the airwave to accurately display the current RF statistics such as access point coverage and channel interference.
Features
Real time detection and location tracking
- Track physical location of thousands of wireless devices simultaneously in real time
- Quick detection and mitigation of rogue access points and unauthorized wireless clients greatly enhances wireless security
- Visualization of the wireless network improves management of the wireless infrastructure.
- Easy measurement of client density, trend analysis and statistics provide accurate wireless capacity management
Automatic alerts & real time reporting based on location
- Monitor a variety of specific events, alarms and potential wireless network security violations
- Users can create alert zones on specific regions – alerts can be generated when a device is positioned within an zone or outside a zone
- Real time reporting allows the user to generate a report with customizable options and then immediately view the resulting report
Contour Map
- The Contour Map view displays a 2D signal strength heatmap, shown in dB or dBm depending on the type of graph generated
- Visualize RF statistics such as total coverage, AP coverage and AP interference on a given snapshot of the actual wireless network
- RF coverage/interference issues can be verified remotely – no need to send IT staff with mobile devices to analyze the change in coverage and interference
Virtual shield
- Setup specific regions which wireless clients are allowed access to the wireless network
- Wireless clients are denied access if located outside of the allowed region even though they can 'see' the wireless network
- Very effective way to limit wireless use outside of corporate premises
Hierarchical map structure with easy site and level management
- Quick and easy placement of APs and RF Sensors across multiple floors, buildings and sites
- Drag and drop RF sensors and access points from various floors to another floor
- Flexible and easy deployment – A single floor is typically configured and deployed in minutes
Intuitive device management
- All wireless devices in the RF infrastructure are automatically categorized
- User can assign customized names to devices for targeted tracking or asset naming
- Makes viewing thousands of devices easy
Visual AP/Client management
- Graphically displays which wireless client is associated to which AP
- Displays additional information such as security, RSSI and distance
