Foundry's BigIron RX-Series, ServerIronGT C-Series and FastIron SuperX Nominated For "Best of Show" Awards for NETWORLD+INTEROP Tokyo 2005

San Jose, CA, Jun 6, 2005 – Foundry Networks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: FDRY), a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, announced that the BigIron RX-series, ServerIron GT C-series and FastIron SuperX have been nominated for Best of Show awards in the categories of Infrastructure Building Product Core, Middle-Range & Edge. The winners will be selected at Networld+Interop Tokyo 2005, to be held from Jun 8th to Jun 10th 2005.

The BigIron RX-series was nominated in the Infrastructure Building Product (Core) category. The BigIron RX-series switch family incorporates the latest advances in switch design, system resilience and traffic management to enable the next generation of scalable, secure and high-availability Ethernet switching. It is the industry's only Ethernet switch family to ship ready to support 40 Gbps and 100 Gbps Ethernet. Featuring a high density compact design, a fully redundant architecture, advanced quality of service and a switching capacity scaling to over one billion packets per second, the BigIron RX-series provides an ideal next generation solution for a wide range of environments including enterprise backbones, data centers, high-performance computing and service provider networks.

The ServerIronGT C-series was nominated in the Infrastructure Building Product (Middle-range) category. The ServerIronGT C-series family includes three models with integrated SSL acceleration. The switches are based on a compact modular design that is only two rack units (3.5 inches) in height. ServerIronGT C-series switches combine best-of-breed application traffic management with high-performance SSL acceleration in a compact expandable system to maximize the availability and optimize the performance of business-critical Web services. The switches also feature a rich set of security capabilities to protect server farms against application-layer attacks and high-speed network-layer Denial of Service (DoS) attacks.

The FastIron SuperX was nominated in the Infrastructure Building Product (Edge) category. The FastIron SuperX Layer 2/3 compact modular switch was introduced by Foundry early this year and reinforces Foundry's leadership in the growing Power over Ethernet (PoE), Gigabit Ethernet (GE) and 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10-GE) markets. The FastIron SuperX delivers a new level of networking flexibility providing a complete networking solution from edge to core with wire-speed performance for high-density PoE, GE and 10-GE system configurations and support for scalable layer 2 and layer 3 services including OSPF and BGP-4 routing and IP multicast. With the capability to scale to one million BGP routes in software and 256,000 routes in hardware, the FastIron SuperX offers tremendous scalability in a small and flexible form factor, addressing the needs of a wide range of customers including service providers. Its advanced quality of service design and standards-based support for power over Ethernet make the FastIron SuperX an ideal convergence platform for the wiring closet providing a powerful layer 2/3 solution for integrating voice, data and video onto a common IP network.

The "Best of Show Award" is given to the product, solution or service that is the best and most suitable for the year's theme, based on the strict examination of experts from the IT industry as well as a vote of visitors. It represents the year, and is appropriate for leading the new network environment. The winners will be announced at the exhibition venue during the exhibition period.

"We are very pleased to have three products nominated in the Best of Show award competition," said Bobby Johnson, Chairman and CEO of Foundry Networks. "These products demonstrate the strength and breadth of our product line and are the result of our continued dedication to building innovative products with industry-leading performance, scalability, availability and security for deployment in business-critical network infrastructure."
