Foundry Broadens Management Team For Market Sector Focus And Expansion

San Jose, CA, Oct. 19, 2004 – Foundry Networks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: FDRY) a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, today announced the appointment of new executives to lead its North American sales organization and its Human Resources team. Neal M. Harris has been appointed Vice President of Layer 4-7 Application Switching and Management Sales for North America, Terry N. Wright has been appointed Vice President of Sales for the Western Region of North America, and Lisa D. McGill has been appointed Vice President of Human Resources. These appointments are part of an organizational realignment Foundry began in June 2004, and demonstrate the company's continued evolution to promote growth, increase its penetration of worldwide enterprise and Service Provider switching and routing markets, accelerate recruiting and better serve its customers. Mr. Harris and Mr. Wright will report to Woody Akin, senior vice president of Worldwide Sales for Foundry, and Ms. McGill will report to Tim Heffner, Foundry's CFO.

New Sales Team To Address Layer 4-7 Application Switching and Management

Complementing its August 2004 realignment of the Layer 4-7 engineering and product marketing organization, Foundry is creating a specialized sales team for Layer 4-7 Application Switching and Management, led by Mr. Harris. The newly-formed team will sell and support Foundry's award-winning ServerIron® line of Layer 4-7 web switching, load balancing and security solutions, and will work to further penetrate this strategic and growing market for Foundry. Mr. Harris joined Foundry in 1999 and served most recently as director of sales for the Northwest U.S. Before joining Foundry, Mr. Harris worked as director of Western U.S. sales at Packet Engines/Alcatel. He has also held sales and sales management positions at Ascend Communications, Bay Networks (SynOptics) and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Harris holds a B.S. in International Business Management from Brigham Young University.

Expanded U.S. Regional Sales Team

Mr. Wright joined Foundry in 2000 as sales director for the Southwest U.S, where he was responsible for managing premier accounts such as the Clark County Unified School District, Dreamworks, El Monte Unified School District, County of Orange and TaylorMade. His appointment to lead the sales teams throughout Western North America adds Northern California and the Northwest U.S. to his area of responsibility. Prior to Foundry, he held sales and sales management positions at Cabletron and at AT&T's NCR Computer Division. He holds a B.S. in Business Economics from the University of Kentucky.

New Human Resources Leadership

Ms. McGill has more than ten years of experience managing all aspects of HR, with an emphasis on creating programs to retain top talent and International Human Resources. She joined Foundry in 2001 as director of Human Resources, and has held senior HR management positions at Alcatel and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. She is a member of SHRM, the Executive High Tech HR Forum, and the National Association for Female Executives.
