Foundry Dominates Fast-Growing 10-Gigabit Ethernet Layer 3 Market Share In Latest Dell'Oro Group Study

Foundry Continues to Lead The Industry in Shipping 10-Gigabit Ethernet Products To Enterprise and Service Provider Customers

San Jose, CA, August 26, 2004 - Foundry Networks®, Inc. (Nasdaq: FDRY) a performance and total solutions leader for end-to-end switching and routing, today announced that research firm the Dell'Oro Group named Foundry the #1 marketshare leader in the fast-growing 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10-GbE) Layer 3 market for the 2nd quarter of 2004. Dell'Oro's research placed Foundry Networks as the leader in Layer 3 10 Gigabit Ethernet with a 43.7% market share for port shipments and 47.1% share of revenue. This is an increase of 37% from Q1FY04 for port shipments and 28% for revenue.

Foundry was the first networking company to ship 10-Gigabit Ethernet products in October 2001 and now offers a complete line of high performance 10-GbE products ranging from network edge to core. Its BigIron® MG8 10-GbE switch and NetIron® 40G 10-GbE IPv4/IPv6 router are the highest performance and most scalable network infrastructure products for enterprises and service providers, respectively.

Earlier this year, Foundry also introduced the FastIron® Edge X-Series (FES-X) 10-GbE fixed configuration edge switches to extend the performance of 10-GbE to the network edge to enable broad adoption of 10-GbE. The introduction of Foundry's FES X-series further extends the company's 10-GbE market leadership and provides customers with a wide variety of deployment options at an affordable price. In the latest Dell'Oro survey, Foundry took the number one position in fixed configuration 10-GbE with 44.4% of market share for port shipments. One of the design goals for the FES-X was to deliver a sophisticated Layer 3 10-GbE switch with a compelling price point. The achievement of this goal was confirmed in the Dell'Oro study, which reported the average selling price per port (ASP) was nearly 50% less than Cisco Systems.
