Foundry Participates in Oracle OpenWorld

Oracle OpenWorld

Make plans to visit Foundry at the Security, Risk, and Compliance Pavilion (Booth 3830) during Oracle OpenWorld November 11 - 15 in San Francisco. The popular Oracle OpenWorld is one of the largest IT events worldwide, with more than 42,000 attendees and 1,600 technical sessions.

The Security, Risk, and Compliance Pavilion showcases Oracle partner solutions that enable companies to secure their enterprise and ensure sustainable compliance for today's business requirements. Stop by the pavilion to learn about the latest trends in security, governance, risk, and compliance.

Foundry Networks has been a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) since 2005, when the ServerIron® family of application switches and Layer 4-7 load balancers were certified on Oracle Application Server 10g in Oracle's load balancing interoperability labs. Together, ServerIron switches and Oracle Application Servers maximize the benefits of load balancing and application switching for Oracle's enterprise and e-commerce customers.

When deployed in front of the Oracle Application Servers, ServerIron switches increase application uptime, maximize server farm utilization, and shield the servers and applications from malicious attacks. The switches receive all client requests and distribute them efficiently to the "best" server among the available pool. ServerIron switches consider server availability, load, response time, and other user-configured performance metrics when selecting a server for incoming client connections.

By performing sophisticated and customizable "health checks" to the servers and the Oracle Application Servers, the ServerIron switches quickly identify downed resources in real time and re-direct client connections to other available servers. Server capacity can be increased or decreased on demand without impacting the applications and client connections. When demand grows, IT engineers can simply "slide" in new server resources and configure the ServerIron switch to use the new servers for client connections.

Both Oracle and Foundry jointly certified this solution for off-the-shelf deployment into enterprise application infrastructures.

Forbes Names Foundry to 200 Best Small Companies List

200 Best Small Companies

Forbes, a leading national business publication, has included Foundry in the top 100 of its America's 200 Best Small Companies list for 2007. Foundry returns for the third time to this respected list and is the only networking vendor among the 200 businesses chosen through Forbes' rigorous and stringent selection process.

Forbes' annual list of America's Best Small Companies is an important look at small businesses in America. This segment employs about half of all private sector employees, pays more than 45% of the country's private payroll, and has generated between 60 and 80 percent of net new jobs annually during the last 10 years. Forbes ranks companies for the list according to return on equity, as well as sustained sales and net profit growth over 12-month and five-year periods. To be included, a company's sales must fall between $5 million and $750 million, with a share price above $5 as of Oct. 1, 2007. In addition, too much debt, signs of a future downturn, or potential or current legal troubles are all disqualifiers.

"We are pleased to return to Forbes' prestigious list of America's Best Small Companies as the only networking hardware and solutions provider selected," says Bobby Johnson, president and CEO of Foundry Networks. "Recognition by an undisputed leader in business journalism validates the success and importance of our unwavering commitment to providing industry-leading networking infrastructure and solutions worldwide."

Foundry on InformationWeek 500 for 2007

InformationWeek 500

Leading IT journal InformationWeek has named Foundry as a Business Technology Innovator on the InformationWeek 500 list for 2007. Foundry is one of the 39 companies selected in the Information Technology (IT) Industry category and one of five networking IT vendors for 2007. The 2007 InformationWeek 500 companies were revealed during the InformationWeek 500 Conference in Tucson, Ariz.

For nearly 20 years, InformationWeek has identified and honored the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual listing. The list is unique among corporate rankings because it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.

"The InformationWeek 500 honors today's leading companies who set the benchmark for business technology strategies and projects," says InformationWeek vice president and publisher, John Siefert. "The companies on our list are some of the most innovative users of technology."

"We are honored to be recognized by InformationWeek as one of the leading business technology innovators in the United States for 2007," says Bobby Johnson, president and CEO of Foundry Networks. "Through the extensive use of information technology throughout our organization, our employees companywide are empowered and equipped to engineer, manufacture, and support industry-leading networking products and solutions worldwide."
