Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment ("WEEE") Directive1 aims to reduce the waste arising from electrical and electronic equipment and to improve the environmental performance of all those involved in the life cycle of these products. The Directive is in the process of being implemented into the national laws of the 27 European Union Member States and applies to firms which manufacture, sell, distribute, recycle or treat Electrical and Electronic Equipment.

Foundry Networks Position on the WEEE Directive

Foundry Networks is committed to meeting the requirements of the European Union's WEEE Directive where Foundry Networks is the legal producer as defined under applicable law. This Directive requires producers of electrical and electronic equipment to finance the take-back for re-use or recycling of their products placed on the EU market after 13 August 2005.

Products provided by Foundry Networks that are within the scope of the Directive are labeled with a crossed-out "wheelie-bin" symbol as required by the Directive. This indicates that the product was placed on the market after 13 August 2005 and that end-users should separate the product from other waste at end-of-life.

As the WEEE Directive is being implemented in each of the European Union and European Economic Area countries through national legislation, there is considerable variation in the detailed requirements across the European Union.

If you have any questions about the WEEE compliance program, please e-mail your question to info@foundrynet.com.

WEEE Product Collection and Recycling

In cases where products were purchased from Foundry Networks in FRANCE, GERMANY and the UNITED KINGDOM, Foundry Networks will arrange for the collection at our designated drop off facility and provide the recycling at no additional cost. Under certain circumstances Foundry Networks will also take back competitor's equipment that is "like for like", when the competitor's equipment is displaced by new Foundry Networks hardware.

Once the WEEE is collected, Foundry Networks will work with our designated suppliers to assure the latest available technologies and methods are used to safely and efficiently recycle the products, and that as much reusable materials are recovered as possible. Any residual waste after processing will be disposed in the most environmentally friendly manner.

To request WEEE product pick-up, please contact Foundry Networks, Inc. at http://www.foundrynet.com/company/contact/

Foundry Networks will confirm the process and the designated collection location via email with a request number and routing information for the recycler.

With a request for collection of end of life product, the customer agrees to relinquish ownership, title and or any legal/financial claim to the equipment. The transfer of ownership will take place at the point the goods are passed to Foundry Networks or an agent such as our designated collection location.

After a request has been received, the Foundry Networks appointed carrier responsible for collecting the equipment for recycling will contact the customer to coordinate the collection of the waste product.
